As the month of December crawled in, tensions were high, and we were going through our appraisals.

As usual, work was in full flow, with everyone trying to close out their goals for the year, with PMs on the hot seat at the daily stand-up. The first week was loaded with a town hall meeting on Friday, where YK explained the expectations for the rest of the year, and then some members of the team got into a tiff with some PMs about deadlines.

The weekend had the explosive Tech Titans tournament, where we competed against some other fintechs: Flutterwave, Carbon, Patronize, Paystack, Kyishi, Cellulant, and Fincra. After numerous gruelling battles, we came out on top with three trophies, including the holy grail, the football trophy.

As the days grew on, anxiety about the self-assessment got overshadowed by preparations for our upcoming spectacular end-of-year party, as is our tradition.
The date was eventually set for Thursday, the 15th, after a lot of maneuvering and hustle.Amidst the usual hustle and bustle at Qucoon, preparations were in top gear for our Great Gatsby-themed end-of-year party.

Nifemi ushered in the celebrations for the month with her birthday on the 11th.

And so the day came, a night of glitz and glamour, the prodigious talents of Qucoon in all their glory, with outfits fit to rival the MET gala. Let it not be said that we don't know how to turn up, it was a beautiful night, definitely one for the books, with lots of awards, emotions, praise, and fun moments. The Qucoon Tigers and the City Girls showed up and got lit.

The highlight of the night was the massive reward given to our superwoman Eunice for being the employee of the year. Well-deserved. A special shout-out to YK on this one, Lacoona! You do this one.

Just as we were getting off the high of the previous day, YK hit us with his usual way of stroking tensions by dropping "gems" in the WhatsApp group about our appraisals. We held on with bated breath, waiting for the mail to drop. The tension was somewhat dissipated afterwards.
As if we had not had enough heart stopping moments for a day, Lacoona came through with our bonus emails, hmmm…

The later part of December also saw us welcome back our amiable HR Amara from her well deserved break. In continuation of the celebrations, our gorgeous Hamdalah followed the Christmas celebrations with her birthday on Boxing Day.

What a ride it's been. It's been an interesting year at Qucoon and promises to be even more intriguing next year.
